John Featherstone Joins Voyager Systems as New Vice President, Sales and Marketing

SAN DIEGO, CALIFORNIA- (July 19, 2001) Voyager Systems, a public safety industry leader in the development of Computer-Aided Dispatch (CAD) Systems and wireless data solutions, has appointed John Featherstone as Vice President of Sales and Marketing.

In this newly created position, Featherstone will oversee the development, implementation and management of both sales and marketing strategies within the United States, as well as internationally. His principal focus will be on increasing VSI’s market share of the Voyager wireless data product within the public safety community.

Background and Expertise

Featherstone brings his rich background of 12 years experience within the public safety and law enforcement domain. Within the last eight years, he has been directly and indirectly responsible for over $85 million in sales.

Prior to accepting this position with Voyager Systems, Featherstone served as Vice President, General Manager for DynCorp DMR Western Region, a privately owned $1.9 billion company. In this capacity he managed sales and marketing efforts and had operational purview over the information technology (IT) business targeted at the state and local market within the western half of the United States. His principal area of focus within this segment was public safety and law enforcement IT.

From 1993-1999 John Featherstone worked for TRW Public Sector Solutions in Sunnyvale, California and Reston, Virginia. While at TRW as the Director of Marketing/Sales for public safety IT, Featherstone is credited with spearheading the creation of their public safety IT business in California. From 1995-1998 he is personally credited with approximately $60 million in sales for this TRW business unit.

From 1969-1993 Featherstone served as a United States Naval Cryptologic Officer in a variety of assignments, including Commanding Officer of Naval Security Group Activity (NSGA) Pearl Harbor from 1986-1989. Featherstone was selected in 1989 as the first officer to lead the United States Commander in Chief, Pacific (USCINCPAC) direct involvement in the Pacific Theater counter-narcotics (Drug War) effort. In this capacity he established and implemented policies and procedures for the U.S. military’s direct involvement with U.S. Federal law enforcement agencies, including DEA, FBI, USCS, U.S. Coast Guard and a variety of international law enforcement agencies.

Education and Credentials

Born in Alton, Illinois, Featherstone received his Bachelor of Arts degree in English with a Modern Language minor from The Citadel in 1969, and his Masters of Arts degree in International Affairs from USC, London, England campus in 1980. Additionally, he is a graduate of the Defense Language School in Russian, and holds a Navy Electronic Warfare Sub-specialty. He and his wife Debbie are currently in the process of relocating to San Diego from their home in Santa Cruz, California.
